We are very proud to be a part of Coffee table book project on Philippine –made fabrics.
These fabrics were developed by the Philippine Textile Research Institute out of Pineapple-silk a blend of silk and pineapple fibers were dyed with pigments from various botanicals, For the colors, they used natural dyes from coconut, cogon mahogany and atsuwete. These fabrics were woven in Aklan and embroidered in Lumban, Laguna.
To coincide with the ASEAN Science and Technology Week, barongs were made for the attending ministers and as well for PGMA and the DOST secretary. We were there to photograph the embroidering in Lumban and took shots of each finished product. We were also at the ASEAN meet last July 7 at the World Trade Center which was attended by the President and the ministers and at Sofitel Hotel for lunch. We were there to take portraits of the vips wearing their elegant barongs. Kudos to the PTRI team for their dedication to the project: Julius and Jen; Anthony Cruz Legarda, who designed the barongs.

June 22 to 24, 2007 was a very busy 3-day weekend for Phases and Faces. It started on Friday with the Cataquis-Villanueva wedding. Both the bride and groom were “kalog” and “pugon”.
The next day, we had 2 big weddings and one big debut. First was the Barcelino-Dael wedding in Meycauyan, Bulacan. They were a lovely couple as the groom (Pabs) is gwapo and the bride (Tintin) is a tall and beautiful lady. Though it rained it did not dampen the mood of the wedding where 400 guests came to celebrate.
On the same day was the Garcia-Tan wedding held at St. James Alabang and Makati Shangrila. On the way to the church, was a horrendous traffic in SLEX. Good thing we had motorcycle escorts. We arrived 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the wedding. But many of the principal sponsors arrived late because of the traffic. The wedding started 40 minutes late. At the reception, the guests were thrilled by our photo slide show and audio visual presentation. The guests especially the parents could not believe that the couple who are both very soft spoken and shy acted naturally. As it turned out, the AVP was very entertaining and the couple deserves an acting award. We also provided a studio set-up where we took the portraits of the ninongs and ninangs.
At the other Shangrila (EDSA) was Geraldine Paguntalan’s 18th birthday. The ISLA ballroom was transformed into a medieval kingdom complete with 2 huge castles as backdrops. Providing the music was the Legierro Orchestra and Parokya ni Edgar.
Last on our list was Sunday’s wedding of Ryan and Lily Canaria who are both US residents. Their program at the Grand Terrace also included a photo slide show and on-site video of the wedding. The couple really enjoyed those presentations.
It was a tiring weekend but each of the clients were surely delighted with the outcome of the services of Phases and Faces. Except for the Catquis – Villanueva wedding. all events were planned and coordinated by Solutions Events.
One of the benefits of being a professional photographer is working with beautiful ladies I feel satisfied with my work when I know that I have given justice to their beauty, when they look their most radiant on their most important day.
